    BB's ??

    Good morning all.

During lockdown I have ventured back into the world of BB pistols
I have a 1911 and a Luger, (both blowback) which are great fun.

Now I know they are not target pistols, so please don't get me wrong on that score, but what ammo do the experienced recommend ?

I have some that appears OK, but I have a tub of Remington ammo that just does not feed correctly and jams the actions up with multiple BB's exiting the mag into the breaches.
The Remington ammo was cheap (yes I should know better) so will simply go in the bin. (All 6000 of them).

But, what I need to know is what is considered good quality ammo for these type of pistols before I buy more rubbish ?
I want something that feeds correctly and does not jam the actions primarily, and accuracy improvements would just be a bonus

So, what do you all use/recommend ?

    Thanks,
    Andy

    BBs

Hi Andy me personally would recommend H&N smart shot copper coated BBs. I have never had any jamming up and these are low ricochet.

Remington ammo pretty poor in everything but my Milbro G10

The smartshot (copper coated lead) I find good in all my mag feed pistols

Dust devils are great in my revolvers

Do the H+N Smartshots have less ricochets? I too am new to BB and find they do ricochet , quite a bit, I am using Umarex steel, no jamming issues yet

Dust Devils work reasonably well at short range in my revolvers as already stated. Not had a lot of luck with them in magazine guns. I tend to use Umarex steel BB in those and reuse them many times . H&N copper coated are quite good but expensive. The Gamo 4.4mm plain lead balls work well in some guns , but not in others. worth trying?

Don't take for granted that the diameter on the containers is actually correct. I have done an extensive measuring test of bb's and some makes can be as low as 4.1 mm in diameter. Without mentioning names there are a couple of excellent types that are very consistent in diameter. The funny thing is that some air pistols actually prefer the smaller ones, while others jam. Always good to have a vernier to see what works for you.
