Just measured the spring that was in my Mercury when I got it:

    Wire diameter: 3,2mm
    Inside diameter: 14,1mm
Number of coils, counting both ground end coils: 34

The gun came to me with this spring, and the gun had been worked on previously(attempt at barrel replacement plus new guide fitted), so I have no way of knowing if it is original from the factory.

I bought a batch of springs from Vic Thompson a couple of weeks ago. amongst them is one in a sealed plastic sleeve marked 'BSA MERCURY' and an indecipherable part number.

Measured through the sleeve as I have not opened it. Length 265mm , ID 14.7mm , OD 21.11 mm . wire diam 3.31, Number of coils 32.

All the measurements should be close to correct but on the large size for tolerance

It is a used spring, so free length wont tell us much more than how collapsed it is.

If you find a supplier for the original spec please could you publicise? I got some off knibbs a while ago but they were a similar spec to a titan but without the black coating so much wider pitch than the originals and hence stiffer.
