THE BOINGER BASH AT QUIGLEY HOLLOW. MAKING GREAT MEMORIES SINCE 15th JUNE, 2013.
NEXT EVENT :- August 3/4, 2024.........BOING!!
KP-R,
I would suggest you :
1) Wash, dry & lube a few tins of pellets
2) Sort by head-size
3) Sort by weight
If your will to live hasn't got up and gone by then, you must be made of very stern stuff
Like a lot of these natures of things, I have done them at some time or other - these are days of time I will never get back !
For me, none of them ever made much of a difference; as @TonyL says, just inspect each pellet from the tin.
Unless you are after the very last 0.1%, then I suspect you probably will not see much difference.
NOTE : The above refers to high quality pellets, made by the JSB, H&N, RWS, etc., etc.
Have fun & a good weekend
Best regards
Russ
i never bother my self
Some are even rolling on mirrors now.
Tried it once, but didn't see any difference from just checking the skirt out of a fresh tin
Quick answer is yes it makes a difference. Not massive but enough if you are striving for accuracy. If you weigh pellets you will find the variation is quite bad. Like a previous comment was made regarding the head being more important than the tail which is true, the head can also be effected by swarf. Cleaning actually makes the weight more consistent as well as maintaining your barrel. Competition shooters know millimetres are massive. Cleaned pellets and lubed with Beeswax polish definitely made a difference, even if only slight the effort was enough to warrant at the time.
And a response to another comment. .177 all the way.

In the case of pellets, makes no discernable difference. In other situations, recommended
