    Best benchrest airrifle

I’m looking for a bench rest air rifle what would be the better option a feinwerkbau 800 or a anschutz 9015 hp? I know both would need tuning

What rifles have You at the moment ?
I would use a pcp or springer that You have , practice , practice and more practice until You can’t get any better using what You have .
Then think about what rifle may be the best .

You dont say what your experience is.

I would try shooting both and seecwhere you lean towards.

Sometimes its a feeling. Both are very capable rifles but one may speak to you. Thene there is straight accuracy. Try both side by side if you can.

Never under estimate the importance of the pellets!

They can make an average gun seem good and an excellent one like a shotgun - quite often it's the pellets which separate top end guns and not the shooter.

I wouldn't have thought any springer would be suitable for bench rest beyond something recoiiess like an Original 65 or 75 especially for competition use - as don't they have to shot off a hard surface?

At our club the chap with the well sorted S400 puts in scores that match the guy with the Walther and sometimes match the guy with the Daystate Tsar.

    Interesting...
    What competition is this in?
    Is it a national one?
Do you shoot it off the same hard rest as the PCPs?

To be fair it’s all luck of an individual air rifle, for me, daystate electronic rifles have always been the most accurate. I have had the air wolf, mk4 and pulsar and all have been more accurate than my Walther and Anschutz. The mk4 had more issues than it was worth though

Outright accuracy, assuming that the reg and other basics are okay, is about the quality of the pellets, their fit to the gun's barrel and just how good the barrel is. Therefore an S400 with a great barrel and the right pellets will be more accurate than a flash gun with a mediocre barrel.

Any gun you really like will probably make you shoot more though, probably the most important factor of all!
    Best Regards

    I've got some slug guns.
