    Leapers scope battery - 2032?

Due to time off work, been giving my small collection some exercise. Today was the turn of the Webley Junior rifle & a 50's Diana 25(again - am really getting to like it).

By way of contrast, got out the .177 HW35 I bought new a few years back. Had some issues with it, resolved, but it got put away as I preferred an earlier one in .22 or a BSA Meteor/Airsporter for pigeon blatting.

Before it was stored, it was fitted with a Leapers 3x9-40 scope with illuminated crosshairs. Went up to 11, like Spinal Tap amps. On recommision, only 9/10/11 positions produced any illumination, red x hairs.

Out with the multimeter, 2.8v - the CR2032 button battery fitted is meant to be about 3v. Find a couple of spare CR2032's, test them with the meter - 3.2v.

Happy Days! So I thought...tried them both, no light at all. Back to the old one, fine. On 9/10/11 only.

    Any ideas?

    Bru
