For Sale: A .177 Webley Mark 1 air rifle.
This example is numbered 1134 and is listed in Chris Thrale's excellent book. All original finish, albeit worn in places. Markings are all visible and present. Stock has a nice grain but also the usual Mark 1 cracks sadly. Good news is they don't open up with use and the rifle can be used safely. The rifle cocks and fires and shoots to point of aim. The trigger can sometimes stick, so something to watch. I suspect a clean and polish and maybe a replacement trigger spring would fix this but I have lived with it for some 25 years as most of the time, the trigger returns to its normal position just fine. Sights are complete and foresight still has its bead. An honest example and one of my first major purchases at an early 1990s Winchester arms fair. £875 for a F2F deal or can post at buyer's risk, bearing in mind Parcel Force will only insure up to £100. Naturally I'll split the rifle into barrel and action for posting and pack sturdily.

Smell my cheese
That was quick, new to the Mark 1, such cool rifles, assume these are more valuable than the Webley Service all things being equal in condition?

If you strip the barrel and butt off, it will fit in a parcel eligible for sending by RMSD . It will cost you about £26-50 but that is for the standard compensation level of £500. Extra insurance can be booked at time of posting.
It is my preferred service for pistols and parcels under 600 mm long
As long as the parcel is no longer than 60cm John, RMSD compensation is available up to either £500, £1000 or £2500, with different postage rates according to the weight of the parcel.
Compensation up to £1000 will cost £9.80 for up to 1kg, or £12.00 up to 2kg, using RMSD by 1pm the following day.
Parcel Force offer maximum compensation of £100 for air rifles, with no enhanced compensation available.
Thanks both - let's see if I can get the size down and I can ask at the PO as suggested.
Kind regards,
John
