How do I reset my turrets?

    Hello all,

I have searched and found nothing

I have just got a Richter 4-16x50 scope, and was wondering, before I go out any get my 30mm rings that I need, how do I reset my turrets to their unset position? (i.e how they are when you first buy the scope)

    thanks all

Go from one extreme to the other, counting the clicks. Then turn halfway, if that's what you meant.

Mart, is there a small allen screw or sommat on the side of youe turrets?
Even a wee hole on the side?

You will need to undo the small screw inside this, return to the zero postion, then tighten up.

Thats what sorts most scopes, but i dont have experience of the one you mention.

On the turret top there should be a small allen bolt which you slacken with a small allen and wind the turrets down to the bottom

Well thats how I reset the ones on my target master

To make sure your scope is optically centred you need to mount it in a jig so that you can rotate it. a cardboard box with two "V" cuts in it will do, or a wooden jig. I use two mounting rings on a board. Set the jig up in a Workmate, or similar so you can see a distant object. Watch the cross-hairs, and rotate the scope slowly, the cross-hairs will probably rotate about the point you are aiming at. Adjust the turrets so that the cross-hairs stay over the same spot. This can take a while to get right..!

If none of the above works Mart, simply throw the scope on the floor and pace about uttering obscenities uncontrollably.
