    .25 BSA barrel

Hi all, can anyone recommend the best pellet for a .25 BSA barrel. I have been given a nice little BSA Super Sport and only have a handful of Bisley super fields with it, but they are very tight to push into the breech. They also don't group very well. Anyone with experience of these barrels?

Milbro Rhino’s work very well in the old BSA .25 barrels. I’m not sure whether you can still get them?? The green tin are the ones you want, not the white/yellow tin.

You will find the vast majority of .25 pellets are a tight fit in the BSA’s because of the .243 barrels they used. Not an issue though, but or make yourself a pellet sizer, then any brand will work fine.

After a LOT of testing with my BSA supersport I found that properly sized BSA Pylarms grouped the best.

    Cheers

Another idea is a pellet sizer, T R Robb used to do nice ones, believe BSA .25 is actually .243

FTT are European 6.35mm - .25 so too big.
    BSA as said are not true .25 they're 243" pellets that fit are;

Rhino 19gn in green tin, but NOT White Rhino 20gn in the yellow tin,
old BSA Pylarm 18.6gn, but NOT new Pylarm 21.6gn,
Marksman No3 19.2gn, but even these are starting to get tight.

Anything other than those 3 is going to be very tight.
I must advise against a sizer from tinbum, this pic is what his .243" does to .25 pellets https://ibb.co/k6WVtS7

Isn't that pretty much inevitable when the pellets are so oversize ? I mean the lead has to go somwhere... not saying that the result is any good, merely that the only way a sizer is going to work and not produce that result is if the pellet is smaller / thinner skirted / softer ?
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

    I use the H&N FTT in my .25 Lightning,but I use a pellet sizer.
I got some RWS Hollow point in .25,from our site sponsor. They are a easy fit in my Lightning and still fly fast enough .
They weigh about 25 ish grains but are ok for my short range requirement’s.

True, but after sizing they're also so loose I can use the barrel as a blowpipe

I use Air Arms .25 in my Lightning barrel but I know that it's a true .25 and not the .243.

When I get around to it I'll buy an expanding Reamer & open the TB one out,
Until then I buy all the old Rhino & Pylarm I see.

yeah, I got a taper reamer for just a few quid from the bay for doing transfer ports.. a larger size would be perfect for pellet sizing, as a gentle taper is exactly what's needed...

My 635 probably has the same barrel.

It likes Marksman quite a lot. Failing that H&N FTT are fine.
