In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.

I wonder if 'repeating' in this case meant, without recharging rather than bringing another round into battery...

It is interesting how the description of the guns has changed. As Harvey_s says, they seem to have evolved into “repeating pistols”, which they aren’t, and they also have “a detachable pommel-cap to allow access to the pump”, rather than “for the pump”, suggesting a concealed pump in the stock, which is of course nonsense.
Still, I suppose anyone prepared to invest £20 k in a pair of guns is going to know a lot more about them than the average punter.
It also seems odd to me that a pair of guns like this do not have a case. They must have originally come very handsomely cased, with matching pump, tools, bullet mould and other accessories, so I wonder why the set was broiken up?
