Chairgun

Good evening, I would like to download Chairgun but I can't find a copy for Windows 10 that actually downloads. Does anyone have a good working link?

I had to fiddle around with compatibility settings but it worked in the end.

Hi

The Chairgun program needs Java to run. This is no longer included within Windows. Do a search and download Java - 32 or 64 bit depending on your system.

Chairgun is a great program on the PC. Android version works well too.

I keep an old Sony Vaio laptop running XPpro which has the original Chairgun version on ( paid for no adverts ), which is a pre Hawke version. I much prefer it to the Hawke one too !

Ressurecting an old thread- I spent last evening trying to get Chairgun to run on an up-to-date Win10 machine.

The problem is indeed Java, but it's easily fixed. Here's what I did-

1- remove all copies of Java- https://java.com/en/uninstall/
2. Ensure the Java direcory is deleted in both C:/Program Files and C:/Program Files (x86)
3. Uninstall Chairgun

Install both 32bit and 64bit versions of Java
- Go to https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and download both the Windows Offline and Windows Offline (64-bit) files. The latest file versions are called jre-8u271-windows-x64.exe (this is the 64 bit version) and jre-8u271-windows-i586.exe (this is the 32 bit version)

Once both those are installed, you'll find the Java has installed to both C:/Program Files and C:/Program Files (x86)

Install Chairgun as normal. The latest/last version of Chairgun can be found at https://www.hawkeoptics.com/downloads/ChairGun-PC.zip

That's it. Chairgun should now run once more by double clicking the desktop icon or from the Hawke Sport optics folder in the Start menu.

Remember that the iOS and Android versions are still available on the respective Stores for running on your phone/tablet, but aren't as comprehensive as the PC version.

I have an original copy of Chairgun sitting on an ancient back up drive. I've installed it on every build I've done, including this one which was a new Win 10 build in November 2020.

It's worked fine on all of them with no tweaking.
