IIRC the Super Meteor has a deeper forend, where the normal stock tapers toward the forend. The Super has a rubber recoil pad too.
    So it is indeed Super!!!

Can't see the point in spending all that extra cash on a fancy stock. Must be chasing the FT market?

Yup - basically the Super had a better stock (raised cheekpiece and rubber pad) and a hooded foresight.

IIRC the cylinder is marked BSA METEOR too.

    Nice guns

I wont have anyone knock the old Meteor, it must have introduced more people over the years to airgunning than any gun.
About thirty years ago or so, a few of us, 4 to be precise, went to a farm in Gwent, shooting, well it was the branchers time, and guess who shot the most, one of my Friends using open sights with an Meteor .22. Now he was up against a HW35 .22, FWB Sport .22 and an Air sporter .22, all using Tele,s, I had a twelve at the time, but did not use it on that outing. So it just goes to show.

My Meteor Super accounted for plenty of vermin too-a fabulous little gun-got a second hand one from a gunshop in Wrexham for my 13th Birthday. I loved that rifle

A Meteor Super (.22) was my first ever rifle at 14 yrs old, a cracking little gun that I have always regretted px'ing for an Airsporter 'S', wish I could have afforded both.....

    I've got a couple of Meteors in my little collection, a Mk2 .22 and a Mk5 .177 (not a Super though).

    These rifles are true classics.

Yes, cracking little guns. Bought my first when I came back into airgunning in the mid 70's. I have two presently in my colection a Mk 1 and an unusual Mk5 which has non back sight facility on the barrel and which I suspect is a 'cadet trainer' variant.

I have read somewhere that some Meteors were made without the back sight facility and fitted with a military type sights for army cadet training. Mine is one of 5 or 6 our club bought with normal sights a few years ago. I wonder if there is any BBS members who have heard anything about this model of Meteor?
There was also several BSA models produced, including Meteors, with smooth bores (usually marked with an 'S' or a 'SB' somewhere on the barrel) for the export market for countries where rifled barrels have restrictions.
