    BSA R10 power?

A friend recently bought new a nice looking R10 - not cheap by any means.

It only makes a fraction over 10 ft lbs though which would disappoint me if it were mine.

On enquiry, he was told that the regulator is non adjustable.

Is this the norm for an R10? I would find it hard to believe that you can't get more out of one of these.

Can depend on the pellets he's using. Have you measured the power with different ones?

I had the power increased on mine a few years ago it was doing less than 10 ft lbs with any pellet.
It wasn't a new gun but it was a mk2
Maybe the newer guns have a different design
I'm sure someone on here will know

his enquire was wrongly answered, however adjustment of the regulator isnt needed to adjust the power
thats done elsewhere, sadly we cant put on a open forum how to do it,but there simple enough
power has to be adjusted and checked generally with a heavy pellet when testing pcp's

Thanks for that - could you please pm the details or point me in the right direction if you don't want it on an open forum.
I would just confirm that this isn't to make the rifle illegal, the intention would be to get it into the 11+ ft lbs region.

Bsa tend to set the reg pressure on R10 on the low side, but the regulator adjuster is fitted with an antitamper cap so it can't be adjusted and the hammer spring adjuster is also fitted with a antitamper type cap, its a pain really as their is no legal requirement for these devices to be fitted.

Or get it Blueprinted by JB, or set up correctly by some other after market BSA bod, of which there are a few - this being one of the reasons why

I suppose this is technically correct, but it's more like the RFD could not be bothered raising the power to low 11s which is a good place to be with these power wise. It's relatively easy, and not unrealistic to expect over 11fpe from a gun from a store, so I'd ask again as it will cost them nothing to do this.

    Wink R10

    Hi

I had same problem. Got a new R10th and sadly only putting out 10.8 fpe.
After a while it became inconsistant powerwise. Done searches and found that most people
find BSA Regs rubbish. Thought I may have made a mistake buying this gun. Could have sent it back but
would it come back the same? I dont know. Anyway I fitted a Huma reg from the Netherlands. They advise not to
adjust reg settings and to use other way. I have to say my R10 th is shooting brilliant now.
Messed up the guanatee though . Never mind its my gun

Normally I would say back to the shop but I agree with you on this occasion, The r10 is a lovely gun and very accurate, However they do have probs with the regs, Sooner or later it will more or likely fail, My mate bought a brand new mk2 r10 and at the time he purchased a huma reg and replaced it even before using the gun, He never ever had a problem after that, Unfortunately mist of them will fail but they are a lovely gun and very accurate once sorted,

Just put a Huma reg in mine after it sprang a leak. I watched xtx air how to video on u tube, he said don't waste your time with the BSA one just put a huma in. No leaks now and very consistent with healthy power. Costs just over £100, well worth it imo.

He may have been influenced by the fact that he sold Huma regs. As has been said, get it back and ask for a refund if it doesnt do what its supposed to. If more did that BSA would have to do something positive about the problem.
