    Tell pistols

I recall they both had a guide price of £1000 to £1500. Our local auction house uses the reserve as the lower of these numbers.
If Stroud have same approach then the single bids of £800 may both have been below the reserve and they did not sell?

I just checked the results on the Stroud Auction website and both pistols are listed as sold, but without the hammer price displayed.

There was only one bidder for both and both sold at £800 in the room.

I see these dodgy Tells have reappeared at Holts, with estimates below the Stroud hammer price. Draw your own conclusions…
    Morally flawed

It is what auctioneers do, they put the hammer down as sold to the room when in fact they are unsold. it is what they call in house buying. as it looks better from there point of view than unsold. they were way over with their price guides.

    £600 each for the frankenTells.

I wonder if this is the last we will see of them.
