The thing I'd really want to check is whether the inside of the barrel is rusty. From experience this is an absolute killer.
    Best Regards

    Simon

    I've got some slug guns.

The inside of the barrel looks to be good thankfully. Once I've reassembled it I'll check the accuracy.

Tasco 2-7×32 AGFM would be great if you can find one. Can be kept on low mounts to suit the low comb of the 77 stock.

If you have it apart it would be great to see a picture of its guts.

Sorry it's taken me so long, here are some pictures.

I've added the piston and spring from my other 25mm internals 77k in .177, Venom is .22.

This forum is a pain to add pictures to.

    Thanks.

It looks like the venom seal adds a couple of mm of stroke.

2-3mm by the look of it, I forgot to measure the difference before putting it back together.

If you're going to use it for target or HFT work then a classic Tasco TR 4-16 is the top choice imo. Fantastic Japanese made scope and optics.

It will be used for informal target shooting so that might be a bit excessive. A Tasco would be nice though.

I'm guessing back when these first come onto the FT scene .177 was still the preferred choice?

    Venom 77K

Also look for the Lisenfeld range of scopes. German glass and Venom stocked these when they were based at the Gun Barrel Works. Mach 1.5

I'm guessing now V-mach is gone, hybrid piston seals aren't going to be available for these.
