Personally, Jon, I'd wait and see whether Dan's new rifle allows him to win more HFT trophies than his wife.

If it does, it's very good indeed.

I think we need to reign in the expectations here Jim. I could barely keep up when she was pregnant and shooting the whole course standing

When we start shooting again my next project will be a reinforced trophy shelf for Laura. And some kind of large magnifying lens for mine

you missed a trick there.. should have coached the unborn bubba to give a good kick onto her supporting elbow... that'd have dented her scores
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

    Wow! That is beautiful.

The 98 is one of my favourite rifles. I like far too many to single out a "personal best", but if I only had one rifle and it was a 98, I'd be a happy bunny.

I like the 98 stock. And the action (with a bit of stroking). But that galv drainpipe on the end.. seriously ? It's like the yobs who used to put a couple of bags of cement in the back of their BMW325i's to stop the back sliding out... talk about addressing the symptom rather than the problem !

Ah, but the yobs down there obviously had more spondoolies than up here, JB.. Up here it was Escorts and Vauxhall "Shove-its".

So, a nicely tuned, stroked 95 with a 98 stock and a nice, discreet muzzle weight would be more to your liking?

yup, which is exactly what I built for myself many years ago. But it wasn't as good as a TX, and the weight advantage wasn't really a factor in HFT, so I sold it

Seconded. The one I bought new a couple of years back had numerous problems. They all got sorted in the end but the build quality was underwhelming to say the least.
