    Stolen airguns

The below is copied from a post from the swefta secretary from the swefta facebook page

The message below was received from the Devon and Cornwall police today and relates to recently recovered air guns. Please circulate as far as possible.
    Thank you.
Devon and Cornwall Police recovered two Steyr precharged target style air weapons in North Devon last month and suspect that they are stolen.
It would be great to get these back to the original owner as no doubt they were some ones pride and joy.
This appeal relates to no firearms offences and is purely a bid to identify the original owner and return the property.
    Details -
    1. Steyr LG110 .177 calibre pre charged air rifle serial 03538 with weaver 36x40 telescopic sight
    2. Steyr LP10 sport .177 calibre pre charged air pistol serial 749515

Sorry to be a pedant mate, however leaving the serial numbers off might be prudent.

That's the message that has been circulated, I know no more than that.
    Same message is on STB.
I guess if the police wanted to keep the serial numbers confidential they wouldn't have released them.

the owners may have posted the serial numbers on forums also.

any one that remembers the airguns models could check to see if the serial numbers match.

How would the victim know it's theirs without the serial number ?

I expect the Police will require more than stating a serial number to handover the rifles so no problem noting them here IMHO.

And at present the guns are only suspected to be stolen, so if the rightful owners don't come forward then they won't be classed as stolen property.
