webley side leaver stock ''warning sticker''

bought (the above)what looks like an original stock 'sticker' for my tracker
now its not a sticker as such,so i emailed knibbs about it
very nice of the to take my money and not even return my email/question/enquiry....thats for that knibbzy.
any one got any ideas please??

Yes it’s a water slide transfer, like what you got in Airfix kits. Don’t expect it to last. If you’re going for a concourse restoration then fair enough, but if it’s getting handled it’ll rub off. I almost think Webley only designed them to be “semi permanent”.

Knibbs email situation is terrible, they don’t answer them. If you want a response follow it up immediately with a phone call.

Yep thats what Ive got too. Didnt know they were meant to water slide. Always wondered why they were so fragile!
They easily break on the touch.
Greg may be right, maybe they were only designed to last a short time. Until the owner was familiar with the gun.
I put some protective tape over them so they stay neat

Lifetime airgun geek AND scale model geek here...

A good material to seal the decal is clear acrylic floor wax (formerly "Future" here in the US and "Klear" in the UK I think...now "Pledge" something-or-other I think).

Let the decal dry thoroughly, then wipe with a damp cloth to take off any excess adhesive residue. Brush the wax over the decal, it will shrink and dry very hard with no brush marks. I might use a couple coats. It will dry quite glossy but you can blend that in to the rest of the finish with fine steel wool and a paste wax.

If you even try to wipe the decal itll deteriorate. At least mine do. Theyre thát fragile. But maybe thats also age.

FWIW, the markings are No. 19 Squadron, first unit to receive the Spitfire. So the model is intended to depict a pretty new, un-weathered machine.


Back to the warning sticker...to be honest I've had a couple of these guns where this was damaged - so I finished removing it, and didn't worry about replacing it.
