    Webley Stingray info. please

    Thanks for looking. Stripped one today and spring seems a bit man size. Ridiculously hard to cock and low ME. 240 x 20 x 3.25 x 30 coil x 42 lb/inch . Red piston seal fits/seals well. Stamped Birmingham. Lovely rifle.
    What's the norm. for these please.

    It doesn't have to be a Norm, people with other names can buy them as well - but Wayne's need keeping an eye on.

    Hard to cock;
    Chambers lists Titan XS nr 7 for the Stingray. If you look that up in pics or at manufacturers site, you may find how many coils it has.
    Although that doesnt say everything as power depends on threadsize etc as well.
    Id buy a new spring, and fit it. They dont cost much
    Red piston seal; I doubt thats original. Maybe the pistonseal is either to big or too small, causing low ME and if too tight maybe stiff cocking as well.
    Some brands, Macari etc, need sizing.

    I think these should, pretty much, easily deliver "full UK legal limit power" smoothly.

    Double check the breech and piston seals.

    It sounds like that's a stiff-ish spring that came out of it. It might be worth looking up some other spring sizes / specs in the Mainspring Data Thread in the Useful section and selecting a suitably sized less stiff one?

    Good observations re the piston seal above, but OP reporting good fit?

    Red seal is probably from Custom air seals or Knibbs. Original Webley parachute seals were purple.

    I can recommend the JM/ARH spring kit for Webleys, it gives 10,5-12fpe in the Vulcan powerplant, and much softer recoil.
