    BSA Airsporter question

I’ve seen an airsporter that is described as a mk2

Only thing I’m concerned about is that it’s got the standard two slot grooves for scope rather than four, two separate grooves I normally see in mk2

Was any mk2’s made with the standard two slot grooves?

Some MK2's had two grooves I had one myself a few years back ,from what I can remember I think it was a fairly late one GE prefix.
It also had a one piece stock.

As Sunbeam says, very late MK2 Airsporters (post 1965) had just two scope grooves.

    All the best Mick

Thanks for the info much appreciated

    I think it’s a GD prefix

The tap lever has a hole drilled into it for some reason

    Regards

What helps distinguish the difference in taps?

Any idea why it has the drilled hole, was they made like that?

The tap lever is not so curvy on the MK11 see here https://forum.vintageairgunsgallery....irsporter-mk2/
No idea why someone has drilled a hole in it.

Ah I see, thanks for pointing that out

Yes sorry the pic is a mk1 not a mk2 got them mixed up as there’s two

Looks like the mk2 also has the curved tap

    Both auto tap loaders

It could be a transitional MK2 I have one that is a mixture of MK1 and Mk2 parts.BSA did this to use up the previous models parts as they introduced the new model but I thought these were GC Prefix guns. https://www.airgunspares.com/whats-my-bsa

Open to correction but my understanding is that the Mk1 had a tapered barrel and Mk2 not, just parallel.
Later Airsporter models did not have the auto open loading tap.
    Certainly the case with mine.

But serial number is the best guide.
