    Marlin 40 Cal (40-60) bullets ?

This is a hard to find caliber cast bullet in .406 260 grain for my Marlin 1881 40-60Marlin rifle.
I do know it is the same as 40-65wcf (NO typo) but having trouble to find a mold to cast my own.
It is sold out everywhere ..
As I do have the proper die set for it and the brass I can use too, I am missing the thing that makes the whole in the target. :-)
My question is: anyone out there has a mold they like to sell or would like to cast some bullets for me?

BACo will do you a mold in any desired diameter and design, here’s a link to some examples: https://www.buffaloarms.com/407-210-...jim407210.html

If you had a 40-65 (400 bore, 408 groove) then I could help you out with a few but the molds I have drop .409 diameter bullets when using 20:1 or Lyman #2

Not sure sizing down to your needs will work?

    Thanks Terry,
Getting molds from the US is a big problem atm as allmost everything is sold out!
When you do find something, AND the seller is willing to ship abroad, they charge 50 to 60 usd for a mold to be send!
When it arrives at my customs they charge me the extra import duty aswell!
So a total of about 300usd for a mold?

That is why I tried here first, maybe I come back on your kind offer when I have no luck elswhere.

    best regards
    Frank

    40-60 bullets

    Hi.

This post has got my grey matter working, Is there any reference data available for bullet heads. If I wanted to make a mould where can I look up the required specifications. Saami does not help unless I missed something. I understand fine tuning of a mould would be required for weight but I would need something for reference without sourcing a sample.

    all the best.

    Hi Stephen,
Have not contacted them yet as I got a lead on the mold from the previous owner of my Marlin 1881.

    Hello James,

Depends what you are looking for in a mold? There are a shed load of designs out there, have a cruise thru' the BACo mold pages for examples.

Here are some other suppliers fyi:
    https://www.brooksmoulds.com/
    https://www.accuratemolds.com/
    https://noebulletmolds.com/site/

or you can splash out and buy software to do it yourself: http://www.tmtpages.com/

You 'are' going down a rabbit hole here BTW, casting a goof bullet can be addictive

Understand this Frank, just paying the duty on a couple of items myself

The offer is there re. trying some bullets, I've a 260 grain flat nose that would probably be spot on for your Marlin.
