    Jewelling TX200 breech

The weather is rubbish, and my eye has been caught by jewelling (guillochet) of rifle parts, in particular the exposed part of the sliding breech on my TX200

Has anyone done it? Anyone local to Southampton got a pillar drill and machine vice they could let me use or borrow?

I thought this vid was a good demonstration of the general principles and setup if you're going to have a go https://youtu.be/U2ggYjdzfsg

I would have thought this is a job for a pro myself as one slip and you could knacker the gun surely .

My mate use to own an engravers and some of the muck ups people brought in saying can you put this right , done on gold jewellery and or silver stuff and he would say if i polish it out it will end up so thin it will break .

Like doing blueing you can have a bash at it and get a fairish job but to me i wanted it to look good i used a pro

I had a Paul Short jewelled hw77 before I stupidly sold it and it was a very nice job.
The jeweling on my ISP spartan is also very nice
Can't go wrong with either of these two if you want it done properly.

You will only make a mess of the part your doing it on.

Cant see how it would knacker the whole gun

If it cant be polished out you buy a replacement part.

That's right £56 for a cylinder at chambers and if you practise on something before you start it might be fun
and clipper seems to have access to tools, but it is his choice after looking at the video of how it's done.

I'd be sending it to ISP if it were mine.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
