The under barrel stamp is usually the tap number, so the correct tap can be re-fitted after blueing, interesting it is also the weapon number on yours , if you pop the tap out and look at the small end of the taper, you might see if this is the case, that would be a first for me at any rate if all three numbers matched!

Hi Paul, a good screwdriver and about 10 seconds of your time will do it

When it is out, put a tiny dab of grease on the spring / plunger (not the tap tapered bit) as this makes the action nice and snug down the screws nicely on re-fitting, the number of these I have seen with loose tap plates / stock bolts / trigger guards is amazing.

on my standard the under barrel no. is same as trigger block no. also has an upside down V with no. 87 and also an s and a capital P .....does any one know the meanings .....serial no. S38505

Your under barrel n trigger block numbers are matching is good as over time people swap parts ect

I believe the other marks like the V ✔️ Letters & numbers are inspection marks, put on after production processes were completed as the gun went along the production line & each inspection point had a different stamp

Hello Ed,

No number on tap. Have greased up the spring plunger. Doing jobs like this makes you realise just how fantastically they were built.
