Old flint lock Pistol

Hi All , I have just bought my first flint lock and I have a question. Should it have half and full cock, this one appears to have a single cock at about where I might expect a half cock. Any ideas. Regards Daveh

Maybe a broken spring or it has moved from its proper position ?

They usually have half cock and full cock. The half cock position is very close to the full cock so you might have missed one click. Or not gone far enough. If not take the lock plate off and have a look at the lock and see if it is clean and there is no bad wear on the sear.

Thanks for putting the end post up Dave, my inquisitive nature had got the better of me, I knew there would be a full cock and probably about as far on again as half cock was but I wouldn't have got to sleep without your last response
