    Diana detent pin problem

As I wrote in another thread I have messed up a Diana cylinder. I wanted to replace the "Verschlusskegel" (detent pin) but now the hole is a little to big and so far what seems like the best suggestion is to solder the new one in place. Will this be strong enough? Other suggestions anyone?

    The pin:

You could use a centre punch and put pop marks around the hole . This would disrupt the metal and close the hole up. Might look nasty but may work .

I fixed one simply by super glueing a piece of shim steel half way around the pins shaft and then using loctite 680 to secure it.

Make sure you test fit it first, it wants to be snug but also be able to be tapped in and make sure the shim is up at the top closest to the transfer port.

It worked a treat for me bud.

    Detent pin

If the pin doesn't need to move, you could try Loctite stud and bearing retainer, I think it's the green one. Just pray you never need to remove it! David

If the pin is really loose I'd try centre punching along and around the round shaft in order to swell it before using Loctite to retain it.

That's what meant but mistakenly put the hole

We used to do it on shafts In air start motors on the compressors .

Yes. "Tinning" the stub with solder will give enough interference. By chance just done it to a front sight today.
If the stub is sloppy fit and not hardened I would knurl the surface.

I drilled mine out - not recommended.

Instead, drill a hole in a piece of flat bar steel, place it over the pin and weld. Now rest the flat bar ends on something and gently tap the compression tube fork till the pin comes out.
