I have one of Laurie's adaptors and it has no pin. I must admit I’m baffled why one would be needed?
Anyway if it’s good enough for Laurie it’s good enough for anyone
I have looked at various threads on this forum & others about charging Giffard cylinders & have been acquiring the bits to do this, Co2 tank (Pub) Refill adapter with bleed valve etc.
Last bit is to machine a new adapter to connect the Giffard cylinder to the refill adapter, I note that most adapters have an adjustable pin in the centre to depress the valve when the tank is screwed in.
The Giffard cylinder being a female thread with valve inside it, Will such a pin be required for an adapter for a Giffard tank? Curious as i havent seen this aspect of charging them mentioned anywhere.
Cylinder has a modern seal in it.
Another cylinder i have shows signs of overpressure in the past as it is slightly distorted so I wont be filling that one!

Morally flawed
Well as many adapters seem to have them i was curious, But if it works without thats good enough for me, thank you!
Out to the lathe tomorrow evening. Will report back how it goes.
