    Darkening stippling

    Evening all
I’ve got a new stock coming with stippled pistol grip and I would like to have a darker stippled area. Has anyone had any success with a particular technique like staining. I’m oil finishing the stock myself.

You'll generally find, and I've found, when doing stocks in the past, that stippling and chequering tends to end up darker than the rest of the stock.

You could mask the stock from the stippled areas, but be careful, as a stain will always stain darker on stippling or conquering, so try a light stain first.
