Found a HW77 MKI in .177 wit some damage but it was n.o.s.
Had a Venom (?) silencer for it, so a project was born. :-)
Decided to shorten the barrel and the underlever as it was way to long when the silencer was attached.
I wanted it to be a sub 12 ft/lbs rifle, so I made the piston much lighter, made snug fitting springguide and tophat and shortened the standard
full FAC spring by 7 coils (in different stages).
It is shooting very sweet now and extremely accurate.
There was a very large damaged area on the stocks fore end, so I stripped the stock and made it much nicer.
Forgot to take pics before I started, so this is the final outcome.

Lovely looking gun. Great job you have done there
Eric
That is lovely love a good mk1 HW77
Very nice.
Lovely job as always, Frank.
I’ll be starting something similar as soon as our new pup settles in (he would reduce everything to matchwood if I attempted it at the moment)
Put on heading 270, assume attack formation
Nice work. All that hard effort was worth it.
Love it.

Glad no one is offended by the finger grooves I added.
Means it is period correct for that era and could have been made once. LOL

I was looking at it thinking how good the grooves look. Suit it well!
WANTED: Next weeks winning lottery numbers :-)
I like it. It’s sort of “retro” 1950s. Reminiscent of a 35, or a BSF, say.
That's a nice job there ...
Had to look twice at the 3rd picture down though as the rubber scope caps made it look like some trumpet-like steampunk scope for a second
