    valve stem seal for xs78

    anyone know what material is used for co2 airgun seals?

    im looking to replace a worn out valve stem on my qb78 but wasnt sure whether a regular oring is up to the job with co2 involved?

    Hi, it's best to use polyurethane.
    Mr Lawrie Amatruda is very good at reasealing valve stems.
    Lawrie uses a high quality polyurethane which will last for many many years.
    He is a very well respected airgunbbs member.
    An NBR o-ring will not work for the valve stem.
    By the way, for the cap and valve o-rings, it is best to use polyurethane o-rings. They will last much longer than nitril.

    Drifting the steel Rod out of the brass is the difficult bit.
    If the valve is only weeping you could try ' bedding' it in with a little toothpaste and a drill. Rotating the valve whilst gently pulling on the drill.

    There are people on here who make ptfe replacement valves.
