Hi
I would be interested in trying any of 6m competitions ,as a 1st time competitor
Cheers ian
You would be very welcome Ian.
The MPL is a great place to encourage newcomers to target shooting competitions to "give it a try" and it is one of the few events that can be entered and shot from home, garden, or club.
Shooting from home at the traditional British 6 yards distance was what the MPL was originally intended to promote along with the use of classic spring powered (Muscle Powered) airguns, but the scope has been widened to include those that can shoot at 10 meters (indoors or outdoors).
The scope has also been widened to include non MPL spring or single stroke pneumatic (SSP) airguns - such as those powered by CO2 or Pre Compressed Air (PCP) in the Open events.
The event is promoted and organised by myself and other non-paid volunteers on behalf of the Rossendale Target Club - a small club in Rossendale, Lancashire to help it survive and keep the doors open.
Rossendale Target Shooting Club. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening 7 - 10pm.

Well, you never know…. I might try it out with open sights, … like how we used to shoot back in the NARPA days with Wobbley Hawks

[QUOTE=Paul SE;8077327]Ive gone all glassy eyed now Paul - NARPA was responsible for getting me started back around 1970 - good days indeed!
As a matter of interest I have fitted a peep sight to my HW30S (bit like Russ fitted to his) and it works really well at 10 meters - so it should be even better at 6 yards!

I enjoyed the last one I did. Let me know when you decide and I’ll enter whatever class is appropriate for a peep-sighted HW30.
Thank you
Hi Bob,
I'm back up & shooting again, so would like to shoot the 6yd rifle & possibly 10m
[QUOTE=zooma;8077358]Could you tell more about the peep sight and where I might find one Bob?
Thinking back, the first competition gong I won was shooting on NARPA targets using my Original 75.
Ironically the item I won was a silver NSRA spoon in a presentation box that I still have

[QUOTE=Paul SE;8077409]You can use any type of rear diopter sight Paul - most fit the HW30S - but just check to be sure.
I can send you a picture of mine by email and if you check the BBS thread here about the 30S you can see the pictures Russ posted of his.
I think Russ bought his new from Intershoot, but mine was a used "left handed" Anshultz one that I was given by Robin Carter some years ago, and it works a treat. The only difference with a left handed diopter rear sight is that the adjusting knobs on mounted on the other side of the sight - but that has made no difference to me at all, so I have been very pleased with it.
If you fancy buying a new one (or just taking a look at some of the many different types that are available) take a look on any of the specialist match rifle accessory dealers sites as there are dozens of different types (and prices!) to choose from!
Good used diopter sights can sometimes be found on here or on "eBitz" etc.
