    BSA Mercury Instructions

Can anyone help me with some research please?

I'm looking for a copy (hi res scan will be fine) of an early Mark 2 Mercury instruction sheet. This is for variants with serial numbers that are WA and ZA prefixed (I don't need other prefixes as I have the instructions for later models, just not the WA / ZA).

Do you have a sheet that you can scan for me?

    Thank you in anticipation.

Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.

    I appreciate you checking though.

The WA and ZA prefixed rifles were only made for around a year; 1973 - 1974, so not that common.

You're welcome John. I purchased mine in 1978, when I was 14 (well, my dad had to actually buy it), from John Stevens airgun centre. It was £35.
I sold my A.S.I Sniper to a school friend to help fund it.

    Thanks for looking David.

Would you mind scanning the Mark 4 as I wasn't aware there was a mark 4?

    Kind regards,

    John

Amazing that you still have it. I wore my first few airguns out, albeit they were not of the same quality

Enclosed are scans of the relevant sheets. The instructions sheet is marked for Mk.3, but the diagram is marked for Mk.4, both with similar prefixes, WC/ZC.
You would know better than I whether this is genuine or a BSA cock up. I also have scans for the Mercury 'S'

It is just about worn out now John. It needs the breech pin sorting. I had it serviced at SFS about 20 years ago, so that would probably need doing again too.

    Interesting - thank you David.

They look like standard Mk3 instructions and the serial prefixes confirm this as you rightly point out. There's probably a minor change in there somewhere!

    Kind regards,

It would be worth doing so I'm sure the rifle is a great reminder of all that's gone before. Where we wonder about what stories a used collectable can tell, you know exactly where that Mercury has been and all it has done with you behind the trigger.

    Kind regards,

    John
