In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.

Well, it is a Swift ! The rod under the cylinder looks a bit like the trigger safety bar shown in the drawing. Only the man that made the cocking link out of a bit of round stuff could tell us if it's a prototype or not , or maybe the owner knows something more of it's provenance.
The rest of it looks very nice indeed.

It certainly has all the hallmarks of a prototype. What would be significant further bit of evidence in favour would be the lack of the swift impression on the right side of the stock. One would not expect the prototype to have such a mark.

Thanks both. I agree the round bar makes it look Heath Robinson! There is no Swift on the RHS of the stock, apparently. The rifle doesn't look refinished either

It sure looks like it is from the Swift family. Nice thing.

I wonder what the serial number is , or if there is one ? It looks like a later one to me.
Good spot on the lack of a "Swift" stamp - no chequering either ...
It seems they did have a tendency for the cocking links to break.
Can't think of anything else at the moment
