Is that the remains of a repeater mechanism ?

Looks like an unusual sighting system to me. And the foresight looks very tall.

Whatever it is it looks like a good buy at the hammer price noted!

Ha I knew it would have found its way to your excellent resource already. Wonder what a Maxnite sight was. Nothing comes up on a google search with is unusual - unless its a spelling mistake. Maybe it was illuminated with paint. I thought it was the remains of a John Maxwell Ball, repeating mechanism by the breech, but maybe not. Though the more I look at it, I think it might be.

I agree with you ; I haven't come across John Maxwell , but that "raised back sight" certainly had more mechanism to it -now missing- and you can see that if you zoom in or use a lens. It would be nice if the current owner could provide some information to the Gallery on what is surely the most interesting part of the thing

If you go up the thread on Dannys link, there is a rifle with a Maxwell Ball repeating mechanism and rear peep sight there.

Ah, I didn't clock the auction was way back in 2015. I thought the price looked cheap in the current market lol
