HW50 Mk1 tampering. Fettlers look away now!

Thanks for looking. Fancied a tamper with the 50 piston. It didn't go well.
First thought, machine the head for O ring or AA type seal. Too hard for limited tool/skill set.
Next, remove head and latch rod. Not easy. The thin tube is clenched into a groove around the head,
Fortunately the tube is soft enough to cut with hacksaw. Spigot on latch rod snapped and too hard as per head.
Plan is, make a mild steel/alloy/Delrin head. Anneal/rework/thread the rod end.
Objective is increased stroke. All physically possible medically approved suggestions welcome

Had you thought about reducing the rear of the piston so you still have enough piston rod to protrude through the back block and set the trigger.

Thanks for the interest. No. Not sure what that would achieve

Mick put up the specs for making pistons to maximize old HW50 stroke some time ago.
    Too many airguns!

Is your latch rod now compromised on length ? Re threading it looks like it with leave it short of reaching through the back block to set the trigger.

Thanks again. Will keep an eye on that. Haven't checked but may be just enough.
