Seen a couple with replacement end plugs lately.
Cheers,
Matt
I have just got hold of a Brittania, been in the wars a little and has been re blued in its past. The Foresight has lots its tip and the plug thta goes into the end of the cylinder is missing. The stock also looks well ropey the end looks like is has been refaced but the images on the gallery do not give a good view of the butt end.
Does anyone have parts? or a picture of the butt plug?
Thanks in advance Ormicron

you could make a none authentic end plug fairly easy, using a stud for the bayonet fitting. The elaborate "hole" is not functional, but you could always make it in ally (to save weight) with a steel stud thru for the bayonet, and a steel spring guide insert.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
Thanks for the information, pity the one in the picture is not for sale! I think that making an end in Alloy may work but need to take apart.
How do you insert a picture into the post? All I can do is add an url from a hosting site. ( Or not Lol)

Where are you looking Jon? I can only see a standard spring guide assembly in Matt's photos. A while ago, I recovered a supposedly written off piston for somebody on here.Shortly after that I was asked to make a spring guide for somebody else . This I did but moved the compression collar down the rod so that standard BSA Meteor springs could be used rather than the suck it and see cut down ones that seem to be the normal replacements.
I can find my notes about the piston but the ones for the guide seem to have disapeared into virtual cloud nine cuckoo land
The picture is looking at where the bayonet fitting goes. A collar has been turned up and fitted to rod with a lock nut. The collar is held in place with a screw.
My apologies Jon. I see exactly where you are coming from now. Numbnuts here missed that photo. It does look surprisingly like a Brittania piston head
Its a shame you cant get some drawings made from original Britannia parts or get hold of the original drawings. Once you have all the details these parts are not that hard to make. I like the idea to alter the spring guide to fit in a more modern spring.
Its amazing what people do to these vintage guns, especially with vice marks everywhere and bodge replacement parts especially screws.
I am pretty sure I can get a component scanned and reverse engineered, If someone could loan me a part I can create a cad file. or at the very least mic it up and create a paper drawing. Including desirable mods if needed.
