I acquired a BSA .177 Air Rifle and am trying to establish what model it is, all I can find on the gun is a serial number ”B42892” stamped on the main chamber and the motif “BSA” embossed on the wooden stock.
Is there any way to establish what model and year of manufacture from the serial number?
    Thanks for any input,
    Brian.
Hi is it a break barrel or under lever.

Thanks for the replies so far, its a break barrel type and the actual barrel is 47cm in length, the whole gun is 104cms long. The stock runs under the air chamber.

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Try looking on the vintage airgun gallery. you should be able to see your gun on there.

    As per post no.5
    'B' series serial number
Stock runs forward of the trigger guard

It's a BSA Cadet, just post war

    Length of 104cm confirms

From images, is that a "scope rail" running length of Spring tube from trigger block to breech ?
Tried to expand photos, to no success.
Previous owners mod? Personally in my limited experience not heard of or seen scope rail on aCadet or Cadet Major.
Target model to take Diopter sight?
