Can you engrave a stock with a Dremel

I would like to have a go on an old stock but is it a stupid idea, has anyone done it?

you can do many things in life... doesn't mean they are all good ideas.

why not practice on a lump of wood and see if you like the result ? My guess is you won't !

    Dremel does an actual engraver.

I've never done anything as fine as engraving with a dremel dremel but the size and weight of it really discourages me from giving it a go.

You can get an additional, smaller, cutter handle that plugs into the chuck of a Dremel via a flex lead and makes it more manageable to do more intricate work.
I personally wouldn't engrave a stock with one on grounds of taste but each to their own.

Popularization of the Dremel is one of the things that has ruined most guns

A phrase containing the words "tools, blame & bad workman" springs immediately to mind

Used correctly a dremel can be quite useful.

Nothing wrong with a Dremel, I wouldn't trust myself using it to engrave though!

But some people trust their abilities to do anything.
SOME people can do amazing work with dremel, but most people should stay away.

What kind of engraving were you thinking of Barry? Personally I wouldn't risk it.
