We decided to run an event with two courses, one to UKAHFT rules, the other in an experimental format. The rules for the experimental course were as per UKAHFT, except that targets could be set at up to 10 yards further than was allowed for their kill zone size, though before the session, Perry announced that there was only one target over 45 yards.

A truly glorious day of warm sunshine and very light wind proved perfect for our HFT/Experimental course day. In the morning (HFT) session, Mark Stretton top scored with 58, one point ahead of Elliott Compton, while Perry Broad topped the recoil class with 50, followed by Nick Stanhope with 47.
Combining scores from the two courses, top score of the day was 108 from Jason Cowan, followed by Ady Tye and Mark Stretton just one point behind. Top recoil was 97 from Perry Broad, followed by 94 from Andy Timmins. Top veteran score was 106 from Mike Hymas, followed by 101 from Bill Birch, and top sticks class score was 86 from Geoff Jones, followed by 85 from Keith Jones.
Sorry, but I’m too knackered to wade through two courses worth of cards to think about count back, so equal scores count as a tie.

Many thanks to the Saturday team for setting the courses, painting the targets and zero range boards, checking the string and cutting the grass.
Finally, I asked (I think) everyone who stayed to shoot the experimental course one simple question, which was which of the two courses they would prefer to shoot on their next visit, and every single one opted for the experimental course.
