It seems that about 1 in 50 mk2 stocks are really nice.
The mk3 rifles appear with nice wood on a more regular basis.
That's a lovely stock Pete!!
I found that the earlier fluted mk3 stock were pretty plain, The later non fluted ones seemed to have more grain for some reason!
Although my pics aren't very good, The bottom two of these are later ones and have nice grainy timber, The top two are completely barren of anything nice!
The early stock on the second one down I replaced with a later stock that I bought from the sales forum on here some years ago, It too was really dark and featureless until I started stripping it, There was bags of tiger striping below the muck!!
This Airsporter mk1 that I bought from B'rider has some nice features too!

You have some very nice walnut there J B
Good wood well cared for. A treat for the eyes.
Every now and then a nice walnut stock turns up on a MK2.
Maybe. someone on this site could help with information about a Webley Mk3 rifle. Seller here in US has described the stock on a MK3 as Ebony. The GTA guys did not have much information but seem to doubt the sellers' claims. Don t have the Chris Thrale Webley 1925 -2005 book and google doesn t have any info. Please help, is it just dark stain? Serial number is 21216 do not have a picture.
Thanks,
Randy

I too have had several later Mk.3's with very dark stained stocks, but certainly not made from Ebony.
