    Ox Mainspring

Have today fitted an Ox spring to a Weirauch HW80.
It will not cock now. Could the spring be too long?

Yup. Springbound. Sear can't engage because all the coils are collapsed and the spring can't go any shorter.
Others on here will confirm, but that's my bet.

If its the correct spring for the gun then unlikely. Ox , titan xs etc I've fitted loads over the years and have never had to cut one. Unless made in random sizes these days, I would defo strip down and check. You may end up cutting the spring though even if to get sub 12 ftlbs. Did you reset the trigger before refitting.

It could be coil bound or the top hat and spring guide too long but I would never fit a Ox spring with more than 30 mm preload as it will buzz like a swarm of Bee's whilst it tries to knock the ends out the comp tube .

Putting a stout spring near coilbound into an HW80..? I can see where this is going....

    Spring

Should be around 26 - 28coils depending on cal. I once brought a 77k and inside was an OX spring at 36 coils. No wonder it didn't shoot well. Mach 1.5

    Spring

Back in the day the Venom FAC 80's ran 32 coil springs for around 19ft lbs which is about the sweet spot for the 80. Mach 1.5

As madcarlos said, if you set the trigger when re-fitting, did you release it?

Also as mentioned above, have you also changed the guide and top hat and are they too long?

If neither of the above, it sounds like the spring's getting coil bound and will require shortening / substituting.
