The box has some age to it and at first glance, looks like a BSA No1 box.

I'll quote a brief passage on the No 1 case from my book on the BSA air rifle below:

The No 1, being the cheapest at 4/ was
described as a plain varnished case. BSA’s
1909 catalogue description suggested there
was no carrying handle and not all
examples appear to have had the words
BSA RIFLE stencilled on the inside of the
lid. The lid was simply hinged to the base
of the case by three pairs of interlocking
screw eyes. Three hook and eye fasteners
on the opposite side of the base and lid then
secured the lid in the closed position.
