Did Webley & Scott Use Glued Wood For Air Rifle Stocks?

I've noticed that my Vulcan stock is two pieces lengthwise. Is that normal, or has there been a tragic accident? It's very well done.

Falcons definately a one piece thats been repaired in its life, it's probably been dropped on it's Butt or some enterprizing 'Soldier' storming the Castle door of his shed has used it as a Ram.

Is it slightly different shades of wood, that look like they've been joined?

It could be just one piece but one half would be the outer sap wood, which is normally slightly lighter (in colour) than the inner wood.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

What patterning there is stops, in a straight line, the full length of the stock.

I do prefer your idea though.

Could be, I've seen it on furniture in the past and even some walnut stocks I've seen the grain pattern just ends.

It's the little flecks that run opposite to the grain .....they look like fish scales
