How much trouble do you have range finding.

Only ever looked through one and thought it was the worst scope I have ever used. Sorry

Do a search you will find lots of opinions but few of them are good.

Try the general section rather than the reviews section.
The sidewinder is total and utter c-r-a-p. Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure but true nontheless.

Well, all I can say is that if you paid over £200 for the sidewinder-you probably would feel that you were robbed-for £80 though, you can't complain, and yes,I own both the 6-18x50 and 8-34x52 models -the optics are fine with no clouding or image problems-a few of my mates have tried my setup and could'nt find any faults(did return one though as the side wheel was very hard to turn-the replacement works perfectly).Overall I'am pleased with mine!!! ..

Not this old monkey again...so for what its worth here's my thoughts on it.

I,ve had 3 over the last year to 18 months, I've had to send 2 back as I had varios problems ranging from sidewheel too stiff, sidewheel wobbley and then one of them broke down completely and wouldnt focus on a thing...

However the one I have now is absolutely fine, it range finds from 8 to 50 yards no sweat, its a little more difficult to accuratly range to 55 and over but most scopes tend to dwindle at this range.

Oh another thing you got to be aware of is temperature change, just keep your eye on it as they do tend hate the heat and the severe cold, do what I do and have 2 different settings, one for winter and one for summer and you wont go far wrong...especially if you only payed a few quid for it.
Hope this helps.http://img386.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf00396zq.jpg Lets just say its done me a few favours over this last year

    mines for sale

I bought mine from a generous guy secondhand not too far from here who never told me it wouldn't focus and the parralax was c**p sent it back to get another c**p one back many thanks.

Thinking of using it as a hockey stick instead would probably be better.

Stay well clear, this one is going on the dreaded bay of E

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving well-preserved, but to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, and still screaming, “Whoo! What a ride!”

I have one on my HMR,and got it off this site for £130 i think. I did have to send it back to have a new leaf spring put in it as it had broke some how? But they did it FOC, and since then no problems.

I'm happy with the way it performs, rangefinding is a little tricky over 70yds but due to the rifle it's not really a problem.

There's a chap on e-gay bunging brand new ones out (without the Hawke badge but otherwise identical) at £80. Frankly at that price you are being ripped off too. The JSR sidewheelers are far better optically.

Only problem with mine is that the side wheel is incredibly stiff and has been since it was new (18 months old)

You should have sent it back mate-mine was the same and I got a replacement fairly quickly-at £80 I think its' okay,it's a cheap scope-if you want more, spend more
