Shipping an FAC to the UK?

I posted an add for my buddy who is selling his AirArms S400E in .177 here in the States. We had a guy from the UK respond wanting to buy it. I know your laws so I am wondering how can this be done since you ahve a 12ft/lb limit? I have advised my friend to e-mail him back and say no deal unless shipped to a US address! Thoughts.......was I right here in my thinking?

    Hi,

I have copied the following from the Metrpolitan Police website.

You could pass this info onto the person who wants to buy the rifle, and when he gets the licence, plus a Firearms Certificate, you could go ahead with the deal.

    Hope this helps.

To permanently import or export firearms will normally require the grant of a licence from the Department of Trade and Industry. The import and export of firearms is a complex subject and advice should be sought from the following:

I think you are correct, though even then you do not want to be a part of a potentially illegal 'chain' as I believe there are US laws on exporting 'firearms' which is what it would be as soon as it left the USA.

If it gets impounded by US/UK customs them not only will the seller be screaming for his money back, but with the special relationship between our countries, it could get you an unwanted visit from the Feds!

Unless he provides an import permit, and this could take weeks to get, it is probably not worth the trouble.

    I agree....

I thought as much so I just re-listed it back on the classifieds over here!

    Thanks!
