    How important is 1.5 ft/lbs?

I know the rabbits won't notice a difference, but if - for example - my .177 is running at 10 ft/lbs rather than 11.5, will there be ANY noticeable difference? Will it affect hunting ranges, knockdown power, anything?

Probably make no difference at normal ranges, but might slightly affect your trajectory i.e. it won't be so flat. This might have an effect on the accuracy of YOUR shooting, unless you are good at judging distances. Do the John Darling thing and keep to under 35 yards for live quarry and you'll be fine.

I've just entered the figures in Chairgun; the pellet drop goes from 4.12 inches (11.5ft/lbs) to 4.74 inches (10.0ft/lbs) at 35 yards and the terminal energy is 7.068ft/lbs and 6.144ft/lbs respectively, based on using 8.44gr pellets. So to me, it is quite significant, I'd want a bit more power than 10ft/lbs. Hope this helps. Regards ... Geek

During some chrono tests a while ago I was getting Daystate 4.52 8.43 grain pellets doing 753 ft/sec = 10.6 ft.lb at the muzzle and 584 ft/sec = 6.4 ft.lb at 50 yards. That is more than the 6 ft.lb. limit for air pistols point blank (and most do not do that) if that is of interest.
