    Murky,

Just post an ad in the wanted section of the BBS. I'm sure plenty of offers will come your way.

If you want to use it up to say 20 yards for ratting then pretty much anything will do as long as it has an IR illuminator.

    Cheers

Someone was selling an XVD in the sales section for £220 as new. If you have the money for a dedicated rifle (as with dedicated NV setup) use this unit with a scope of your choice (someone else has a pretty good Tasco up at £50), total outlay £270. Mount these on a rifle, and away you go. This NV even with a £30 scope ought to be good for x6 mag. I suspect the Tasco will give you a good x9 mag and illumination out to 40 yards easily. You'll not be disappointed.

Actually, an Ultra suits this very well as the scope rail goes quite a way forward.

Just so you know I am the sole UK distributor for the Falcon scopes and we deal direct with the factory in Belarus...we don't bother importing this particular one as it is a cheapo made for the Eastern European market.

Just so you know...for comparison...the scope we do import, the S 2.5x50 retails for £325 and is vastly superior.

As an aside nearly 2 years ago, along with some of the likely lads off this BBS, we tested all the scopes we could get our hands on and the S 2.5x50 was considered tops when all things were considered. Actually best image was from the NS156 but it has an awful mount, reticle and adjustments! In short it's better than the ATN offering in pretty much every way.

My advice if you just want to have a go at some rats...get a cheapo 2nd hand PNS. They are a pretty awful scope but if you just want it for close in ratting...it's got highish mag and cheap as chips.

    Cheers

cheapo second hand pns??? and what are these exactly? all i want is a scope that i can see rats with at approx 30 ft in the dark and be able to focus on their slanty little 'orrid eyes as i attempt to take off their heads ....or is that too much info lol

Just a guess but I'd say that digital night vision is just about to send the price of the old Gen 1 and 2 devices tumbling.

In 6 - 9 months time they wont be able to give Gen1 scopes away.

    Murky,

I have an X2W Sport and the action is basically the same. Top rifle with excellent build
quality. That new Merlyn stock looks the business.

A bit rich for my blood but well worth the money if you have got it to spend.

    Oh dear......

So could be it's been misused? And maybe why it's already 2nd user? If after it goes wherever it's gone you get it back and are still unhappy, please let me know. I may be able to make you a lot happier. BSA are closed for stock taking at the moment, BTW.

Goes on the back of your normal dayscope.

Shame you're in Oldham, or I could show you just how useful these things are. Some people have already 'jumped ship' but may have been a bit premature in doing so. I thought to sell my 'standby' unit, but thought better of it.

These older style systems are half the price (new) of the later systems. The later ones may well be better, but they are in short supply, as well as being more expensive. I'm keeping my Gen I system...

My suggestion is you buy the (practically) unused system and use it for the rest of the season. Selling it for almost the same money next September....

I don't evangelise about this stuff 'cos I like typing. As I've said many times, there is very little to touch it for the money. Hook up a laser illuminator or lamp with filter, it transforms the range of the scope.

    ...
