Excellent. Thank you John. Perhaps the mods could make this a 'Sticky' for this section and we can refer the many 'What year/model/gun' type enquires to it.

i can't remember where i copied this from but i wrote it out by hand about 15 years ago
there may be updates but i don't know of any...
there are two 'W's, one for a cadet and one for a mercury, this is just how i copied it and dennis hiller seems to bear this out in his enlarged third edition of the collectors book of air rifles
hope this helps someone
thanks to magicesperanto for telling me how to put up on here (i hadn't a clue yet it was so easy

If you do a Google search for WHAT'S MY BSA then one of the first hits that shows will take you to the list of prefix letters on the John Knibbs website.
It's quite a long list, with all the variations used on the different models, including for mark, year and calibre.
The website has always had this available, but it was easier to find it on their older style site rather than the current new one.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
Just discovered a cc cadet major in the loft so will be giving it a refresh at some point
