Hi craig9mm,
Any idea why Diana P5 Magnum was discontinued, is something wrong with it?
Thanks for reply

Hi,
Those are the only two decent models available there, new. Similar price.
Purpose: 10m target, and plinking and training while abroad.
So which one would you choose, Diana P5 Magnum or Gamo Compact?
Or I can wait and try to import Weihrauch HW 45 from Germany next year.
But somehow I do not believe in postponed pleasures.
CO2 or PCP models would be difficult to recharge there.
Thanks
Ayosha

the gamo compact is ment to be a very good starter pistol it has a target style grip and is also very accurate. it is a good started pistol for the price brand new its a bargin.it is good due to the fact that it is self contained and you dont need filling bottles etc with it .
The LP5 was replaced by the new LP8.
Ask yr self wether you wanna shoot 1 or too handed.
The LP5 magnum (or LP8) is a BIG HEAVY pistol, not quite suitable for 1 handed.
Also its more powerfull and quite lively to shoot
The Gamo is more semi-match iirc.

as per Yana's reply, correct as ever!!!!!!!!!
I suggested the standard P5 ,still listed as in production.lighter ,shorter easier for one handed shooting.
much more fun,love spring guns.
Thanks to all,
I will have to try them out in a shop, compare and see which grips better.
I use both, 2 hands and single stance.
Quality-wise, are they on the same level?
How easy to polish and fettle?

I havce a Gamo compact and a Diana LP8, Successor to the P5 magnum. The LP8 has a much higher build quality than the compact.
The Compact is a good entry level pistol, that you can use for formal 10 metre target shooting, which requires a one handed stance.
However, unlike Diana pistols, you woudn't expect it to last 10 ir 15 years.
For the purpose of 10m target & training - there is only one logical choice....The gamo compact.
The grips alone are unique at this price point and with minor attention (well covered on here previously) the Gamo's trigger can be made very good indeed.
Both the Diana and HW45 will be notably inferior for this purpose.
