    10 metre pistol training

Hi folks, i am new to the forum
I may spend a fair amount of time in this section.
I will be a novice at 10 metre pistol shooting too.
In your guys and girls opinions. What are the crucial first things to get right? in some kind of order.
Is it, stance, grip, sight, mind, finger pressure etc
Should i just get some pellets down range? or go straight to a club. or a good shooter?
    regards Mr B

Most important is sight picture as the sights being 1mm off can make a difference of inches on the target. Don't let the foresight touch or be within the black as you won't be able to see whether it is level with the rear sight. Focus on the sights as they are much more important than the target.
Next most important is the trigger pull. If you get it wrong a 9 turns into a 5 very easily.
getting all 10 pellets on the card is quite good for a beginner and 10 in the scoring ring is good.
until you can shoot a tight group 4" or less don't worry about where they are on the card as unless you are shooting your own pistol you won't be able to adjust the sights to suit you.
Shooting on the blank white side of the card can give a smaller group than shooting at the side with the black dot and rings.

You start at the beginning: outer stance
Than zero position of the stance
Only than you really start gripping/using the pistol.
    So after that: pistol gripping
    This all is 'fase 1'
Afther that, fase 2: breathing, aiming and trigger technique
    Last fase is follow through

    What are you training for?

Are you training to improve your own technique or are you committing yourself to a local league? There are many books and many well practised members here (and on other forums) that could teach you loads. What is your goal though Mr B?

I agree with all of the above and then practice and more practice!

    Position & stance
    Grip
    Rehearsal & visualise
    Lift/breath
    Sight alignment
    Focus on front sight
    Trigger
    Follow through

Got to get them all right within a few seconds.
    Practice and they’ll become subconscious.

    Good tip:
Get into position, close your eyes, raise the pistol to the target, balance out your shoulder, back and chest muscle tension till you feel comfortable then open your eyes. If the pistol is not pointing at the target reposition your feet till you are, without moving your arm. That’s your natural stance. Get that right before you go through all the other stages.

Join a club if you can.

    Practice makes perfect!
