Strange to have a rifle with a foresight tunnel that cost more than the rifle !

Thats a tidy looking milling job you have done there Russ!

The pictures shows the barrel held in your milling vice - it looks a lot like my Vertex milling vice's. I have three of these vices in different sizes and found them to be excellent value for money.

Getting everything held square would have been the key to getting the top surface in line - did you use "soft jaws" or some other sort of protection for the barrel surface when you worked on it, or did you risk fitting it directly into the plain vice jaws (as shown in your picture)?

I only ask as I may have a similar project in mind, but I am juggling the risk of marking the barrel in the milling vice jaws with the more secure "hold" that I would probably loose by fitting soft jaws or wood block sleeves.

Don't worry Rob - just take it steady - it's not easy to get back into rifle shooting after an injury like yours, but if you take your time it will come!

The good thing about the MPL series is that you can chart your progress and each month you can see how your recovery is going, and hopefully by the time the next series starts you will be back to your full strength again!

    Bob,

Sadly, the mill is not mine it is my friend Steve's.

We used brass shim to prevent barrel marking.

    Have fun
