I am having some facsimile Webley Mk.3 stock inserts made, of both types, but it appears the earlier insert is made from a different material to the later one, presumably because 'plastic' in 1946 was a different composition to the later version, and is a slightly off white colour, whereas the later insert is printed on a bright white plastic.
I had intended to get both made from the same material as the later inserts, but, I can get the earlier inserts printed on a silk screen printed background at greater cost.
If I stick with the one type of material, the earlier version could always be lacquered before it is fitted, which will alter the surface colour.
